Donnie Wahlberg Reveals Sweet Reason He Decided to Do ‘Blue Bloods’ Spinoff

Donnie Wahlberg revealed that he leaned on his wife, Jenny McCarthy, when deciding if he wanted to star on the Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue.

“I remember when Jenny got the call for The Masked Singer, she was like, ‘I don’t know. Is this going to work?’ and I was like, ‘That’s going to be huge!’” Wahlberg, 56, told Country Living in an interview published on Thursday, October 30. “She was like, ‘Really?’ and I said, ‘Yes,’ and she re-looked at it.”

Meanwhile, he revealed that McCarthy, 53, also encouraged him ahead of his latest television project. “That’s how we are,” he said. “Boston Blue came along and she said, ‘You must do this.’ I was like, ‘I know, but Blue Bloods … I could keep [trying to save] this.’ She said, ‘You have to give it a try.’ She’s incredibly supportive.”

Wahlberg and McCarthy have proven to be couple goals ever since they got married in 2014. In addition to building a life together, they also built a blended family with McCarthy’s son Evan, 23, and Wahlberg’s sons Xavier, 32, and Elijah, 24.
