Will Tom Selleck make a special appearance in Boston Blue? Here’s what he said
Veteran actor Tom Selleck has weighed in on the prospect of appearing in Boston Blue, the recently launched spinoff of the long-running police procedural Blue Bloods. The actor’s remarks come months after CBS ended Blue Bloods in 2024, closing a 14-season chapter that made Selleck’s portrayal of NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan a household presence. His comments have renewed public curiosity, especially as Boston Blue continues to build momentum with cameo appearances from familiar faces.

Selleck on Whether Frank Reagan Will Return in Boston Blue
In an interview with Hour Detroit published on November 11, the 80-year-old actor responded candidly when asked whether he would reprise his iconic role in the new series. While Boston Blue centres on Danny Reagan — played by Donnie Wahlberg — who now lives and works in Boston, fans have been anticipating a potential crossover involving Frank Reagan.
“I don’t know if I would do Boston Blue — that’s another show,” Selleck said. He noted that, while he felt a responsibility to ensure Blue Bloods’ legacy remains intact, he does not view it as his “lot in life to keep playing Frank Reagan.
